What is it?
Acupuncture is part of traditional medicine, with origins in the ancient healing art from China and India. It works by unblocking the flow of energy, called chi, throughout your body. It’s primarily used to alleviate pain, but is also extremely effective at treating disease and restoring overall health.

Dr. Cabrera's approach
Dr. Cabrera speaks with you to understand your whole health history and current needs. She customizes treatment to address your pain and determine how well you are functioning.
-
How does it work?
You’ll recline in a comfortable position and relax with soft music and dim lighting. During your comprehensive exam, Dr. Cabrera locates places where your chi is blocked or unbalanced and taps ultra-thin needles into those acupressure points to free your chi. She’ll leave the needles in place for about 5 to 30 minutes, never more than an hour, while your body’s natural chemicals flow into your tissues and muscles to prompt healing.

What to expect?
Most men and women tolerate acupuncture very well. As the fine needles make contact with your skin, you’ll feel a tingling sensation or temporary numbness in that area, but the pain is minimal and nothing to fear. Many of Dr. Cabrera’s patients say they don’t even feel the needle insertions.
